If you’re a gamer, you’ve no doubt heard of the God of War series. Kratos is the ultimate badass, and players have been following his adventures for years. With the release of God of War: Ragnarök coming up, we thought it would be fun to share some interesting facts about the character. Check out our list below.

    1. Kratos killed his own family

Kratos killed his father Zeus by chaining him to the wall of Mount Olympus and stabbing him repeatedly in the chest. He then took control of Olympus and became the new God of War. He also killed other gods in his exploration for vengeances like Ares in God of War (2005), Poseidon and Hades in God of War II (2007), and Hermes in God of War III (2010).

    2. Thirst for revenge

Kratos killed his wife, Lysandra, and daughter, Calliope, by tricking them into believing that he was going to sacrifice them to the gods. Kratos’ family had no idea what he was planning as he led them into the temple of Athena. He had convinced them that he was going to surrender them to the gods in order to gain their favor. But instead, he pulled out his blades and stabbed them both while they were unsuspecting. This caused him great pain and grief, and he was consumed by his anger and thirst for revenge.

    3. Voices of Kratos

Much like his origin story, Kratos’ voice actor has also changed over the course of the series. TC Carlson voiced all of Kratos from God of War (2005) through God of War: Ascension (2013). However, from God of War (2018) leading up to the upcoming release, Christopher Judge will be providing the voice of Kratos. Judge has also done work on the television show Stargate SG-1, playing the character of Teal’c.

    4. Lack of blood and gore

In order to accurately portray Kratos as a rage-fueled demigod, some digital blood and gore had to be added in during post-production for some scenes. This was done in order to highlight the raw power and ferocity that Kratos can unleash when angered. Kratos is a god, and as such, should be powerful and impressive. However, the lack of blood and gore made him seem weak and unimpressive.

    5. Used as an Inspiration

Kratos’ design has inspired other popular video game characters, such as Dragon Age’s The Iron Bull and Dante from Devil May Cry.

    6. Kratos and The Simpsons Game crossover

Kratos made an appearance in “The Simpsons Game”, which was released in 2007. The game was a crossover between The Simpsons and God of War, and Kratos served as the main antagonist. In the game, Bart Simpson travels to Mount Olympus and challenges Kratos to a fight.

Kratos is a formidable opponent, and Bart quickly finds himself outmatched. However, he manages to get a few lucky hits in and eventually defeats Kratos. This victory is short-lived, however, as Kratos recovers and uses his powers to destroy Springfield. Bart must then travel through various levels in order to stop Kratos and save the town. He eventually confronts Kratos again, this time in an epic battle that takes place in the town square. Bart once again emerges victorious, and Kratos is finally defeated. “The Simpsons Game” is an entertaining crossover that fans of both franchises will enjoy. It’s also a great introduction to the God of War series for those who are not familiar with it.

    7. Kratos was almost cut out of the game

Cory Barlog, creative director at Santa Monica Studio, almost cut Kratos from God of War because he felt that the character had become too predictable and one-dimensional. “He was a little too angry, and not fun to play,” said Barlog in an interview. “I wasn’t sure if we could continue to make games with him.” However, after seeing the positive fan reaction to Kratos, Barlog decided to keep him in the game.

    8. The Blades of Chaos have more power than the Leviathan Axe

Kratos’ Blades of Chaos were effective weapons that were specifically designed for war. The Blades of Chaos were the weapon of choice Kratos. These blades were originally a gift from Athena, and they were attached to chains that would wrap around his enemies. They were incredibly effective in battle, and Kratos was able to use them to devastating effect by shooting chains and wrapping them around enemies.

The Leviathan Axe is a robust weapon as well that was originally created by the dwarves. It’s effective against frost giants, and it can freeze them solid with a single blow. It can also be used to summon the spirits of the dead, and it can also be used to control the elements. The Leviathan Axe is a great, but it can’t compare to the blades that were specifically created for battling gods. Kratos was able to kill Zeus with them, and they are capable of inflicting a lot of damage on enemies with the Blades of Chaos.

    9. Krátos

Kratos is the god of strength and power. He is based Krátos (also Cratos or Cratus) from Greek mythology and he was the son of Pallas and Styx. He’s known for his fierce fighting style and ability to defeat his enemies. He is a popular character in video games and has inspired other characters like The Iron Bull from Dragon Age.

    10. Athena

Kratos’ nightmares were always haunted by the image of Athena, the goddess who had betrayed him. She was the one who had persuaded him to kill his own family in order to gain favor with Zeus. In his nightmares, she would taunt and torment him, taunting him with his failures. Athena was killed by Kratos after he was influenced by her. This event led to Kratos’ descent into madness, and it was the beginning of his long road to redemption.

    10. Kratos’ death

In every game except for Ascension (2013), Kratos has died at least once during the course of the game. This includes his death in God of War (2005) at the hands of Ares, his death in God of War II (2007) after being stabbed by Zeus, his death in God of War III (2010) after falling from Mount Olympus, and his death in God of War: Ghost of Sparta (2010) after being impaled by Zeus.
