[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hello. My name is Nikki Lynette and I am sore all over. I feel like I did a full body workout with heavy weights, but I didn’t. I got this way from doing one 45 minute class at Cycmode… and I can’t wait to do it again.
Since November 24th, Sugar Gamers has been joining me in my 30 Day Self-Care Challenge for my mental health movement Get Out Alive. The #iGetOutAlive challenge includes one month of healthy eating, relaxation techniques, and fitness. It hasn’t been easy. But its officially day 10, and since I sort of hate working out I always welcome new opportunities to make fitness fun. So when my bestie Keisha told me about Cycmode, a new cycling class that combines spin class with tech, I was excited. Little did I know I was about to have a full body workout on a bike.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/X2ZhvapyDGo”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Located right on the fringe of Chicago’s bustling downtown area, Cycmode is the only cycling studio in the world that pairs an immersive and virtual indoor cycling experience with bikes that move. For me, stationary bikes are boring and it hurts my butt. Before Cycmode, there was only one or two spin structors who could actually make it fun for me. Otherwise, its just pedaling to go nowhere, loud music, and a lot of yelling.
“Go harder! You got it! Now go harder than the harder you are already going!”
For what, sis? For what?
Cycmode isn’t boring, but it is tough. A lot of the yelling and screaming during the class was coming from members of Sugar Gamers as we pushed ourselves to cycle through digitally-created worlds on a 40 foot-wide curved video wall. The bikes move from side to side and shift with the rider’s body weight, and like all spin bikes, the intensity is manually controlled by each rider via a red dial that controls the bike’s resistance. The whole Cycmode experience combines aspects of VR, group play, and gamification that really appeals to Sugar Gamers. And the thing is, I didn’t realize I was working so many muscle groups at once… I found out the next day when I woke up sore! That alone was enough to make me feel like this is a workout I can do regularly.
We really had a blast doing Cycmode. I feel like I really truly self-cared. I self-cared so hard. We’ll be posting a recap vid highlighting some of our experiences with Cycmode soon. And those of us at Sugar Gamers who already love the class have been thinking of doing a group event there in the near future, where we invite out our fellow geeks, gamers, and participants in the self-care challenge to join us in the most butt kicking and interesting spin class in the world. I mean that literally… No other spin class on the planet has the technology to create this type of cycling experience except Chicago’s very own Cycmode.
